Terms of service
Last updated: April 2026
1. The service
solicitor.law is a website design, hosting, and maintenance service for consultant solicitors, operated by Steven Mather through Kesters Nook Limited (company number to be confirmed), registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”, “our”).
2. Subscription and billing
The service is provided on a monthly rolling subscription basis. Fees are charged monthly in advance via Stripe. All prices are stated exclusive of VAT, which will be added at the prevailing rate.
Your subscription begins on the date of your first payment. Sites are delivered within 48 hours of receiving a completed intake form.
3. The “don't like it, don't pay” promise
If, upon seeing the first preview of your completed site, you decide it is not for you, we will refund your first month's subscription in full. This offer applies to the initial build only and must be exercised within 14 days of receiving your preview link. It does not apply to requests for a fundamentally different site from what was agreed in the intake form.
4. Cancellation
Either party may cancel the subscription by giving 30 days' written notice. Upon cancellation, your site will be taken down at the end of the current billing period. Your solicitor.law subdomain will be released after the notice period. There is no penalty for cancellation.
5. Amendments and updates
One round of amendments is included with the initial build. Ongoing content updates are included according to your subscription tier (Silver: one per quarter; Gold: one per month). Additional updates are charged at £25 +VAT per request.
6. Intellectual property
The site template, design, code, and any content created by solicitor.law (including AI-generated copy, layout, and styling) remain the intellectual property of Kesters Nook Limited. You are granted a licence to use the deployed site for the duration of your subscription.
You retain ownership of any materials you provide to us, including photographs and text you have written yourself. On cancellation, we will return these materials to you on request.
7. Hosting and infrastructure
We own and manage the hosting infrastructure. Sites are hosted on Vercel and data is stored on Supabase. We take reasonable steps to ensure availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime.
8. Regulatory information
You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the regulatory information displayed on your site, including your SRA number, regulated firm details, PII information, and complaints procedure. While we will verify your identity against the SRA register, the ongoing accuracy of this information is your responsibility.
9. Data processing
We act as a data controller in respect of the personal data you provide to us as part of your subscription (your name, contact details, SRA information, and billing information).
Where your site includes a contact form, we act as a data processor on your behalf in respect of enquiries submitted through that form. We will process such data only for the purpose of delivering it to you and will not use it for any other purpose. Our obligations as a processor are set out in our Privacy Policy.
10. Search engine rankings
We build every site with strong SEO foundations but do not guarantee specific search engine rankings or traffic levels. Search rankings depend on many factors outside our control.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with the service shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim. We shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of revenue.
12. Failed payments
If a payment fails, we will attempt to collect it again. If payment is not received within 7 days, your site will be suspended (but not deleted). It can be reactivated upon successful payment.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Contact
For any questions about these terms, contact Steven Mather at steven@solicitor.law.
