Steven Mather

I'm a practising solicitor, admitted in England and Wales. I run a busy commercial practice specialising in business sales and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, EMI share option schemes, and general corporate and commercial work. I bill real clients, attend real completions, and deal with real SDLT headaches.

I'm also a member of the Law Society Council — the governing body of the solicitors' profession in England and Wales. I care about the profession and the people in it.

I've been building websites since before Google was a thing. Not as a side project — as a serious revenue channel. My own practice website generates over £200,000 of instructions a year. It ranks on the first page of Google for dozens of competitive legal search terms. It converts visitors into paying clients, consistently, month after month.

I've spent over 25 years working out what makes a legal website actually produce work. Not just look pretty. Not just exist. Produce work.

solicitor.law exists because I got tired of seeing talented solicitors — colleagues, friends, people I respect — with either no website at all or one that actively embarrasses them. I know it can be better, because I've done it for myself. Now I want to do it for you.
