Do the maths on one instruction
The average consultant solicitor invoice sits comfortably above £1,000. Authority is £995 setup + £19/mo — £1,223 in your first year, all in.
If the site brings you one instruction in the first year you are already even. Two and you are ahead. From year two onwards you are paying £19/month to keep a fully-compliant, SEO-tuned client-generation site online.
Compare that to spending 15–20 hours building something yourself. At consultant rates that's £5,000–£7,000 of billable time set on fire — and the result will still look like a 2008 law firm website.
Straight answers
What am I actually paying for?+
The setup fee covers the bespoke build of your website — the design, the copy, the structure, the compliance pages, the digital business card. The monthly hosting fee covers the infrastructure that keeps it online: hosting, SSL, your subdomain, your email forwarding with SMTP Send As, your directory listing, ongoing compliance updates, and minor edits per quarter (phone, email, photo swap, single-line text changes). Anything beyond minor edits — new pages, new content, redesigns — is billed separately.
Will the site look generic, like every other template?+
No. Starter, Growth and Authority are built from a curated component system — Classic / Modern / Editorial / Bold layouts, 5 colour themes, 5 font pairings — giving over 100 visual combinations, with bespoke copy written for you. Two solicitors on the same tier will not have sites that look or read the same. Bespoke clients get a truly unique creation: a 1:1 strategy call, custom layouts, 20+ pages of bespoke content built by Steven personally.
Will it actually rank on Google?+
That is literally the whole point. Solicitor.Law was founded by Steven Mather, a practising solicitor who has spent 20+ years building sites that generate work. His own site (stevenmather.co.uk) has 38+ pages ranking on page one and gets 176,000 impressions a month from Google. The entire Solicitor.Law platform — schema markup, clean URLs, fast hosting, real content, near-perfect Google PageSpeed scores — is built on what works.
What if I want changes after launch?+
Your monthly hosting fee includes minor edits per quarter — phone number, email, contact details, photo swap, single-line text changes. Anything bigger is billed as a bolt-on: £25 per text edit, £75 for a new page, £99 for an individual blog post. If you want regular content help, the optional Content subscription (£49 / £99 / £199 per month) is available for Authority and Bespoke clients.
What about ongoing content — blog posts and articles?+
Content updates are deliberately not bundled into the core tiers. They're sold as a separate optional Content subscription, available to Authority and Bespoke clients only (because lower tiers don't have a blog structure built in). You can add, pause or cancel the Content subscription independently of your hosting plan, anytime.
Am I locked in?+
No. Cancel your hosting subscription anytime via Stripe. The site goes dark at the end of the current billing period. Your subdomain is held for 30 days then released. The setup fee is refundable if you cancel before the site goes live; refundable at Steven's discretion within 14 days of launch; non-refundable thereafter.
Is it SRA compliant?+
Yes — built in, not bolted on. Regulatory footer, transparency rules, PII display, complaints procedure, privacy and cookies pages are all included and maintained as the rules change. You don't have to think about it.
What's the difference between this and a £3,000 agency website?+
A £3,000 agency website is a one-off. They build it, invoice, disappear, and two years later it's out of date. solicitor.law is a platform — once built, we host, maintain compliance, and keep your site online for the lifetime of your subscription, all from £10/month. And the headline build cost is a fraction of the agency price.
I'm not actually a solicitor. Can I still use this?+
Not on the solicitor.law platform — it's SRA-specific. But we build the same kind of client generation system for any professional services firm. Email Steven for a bespoke quote.
Not a solicitor, but want the same system?
We build bespoke client generation platforms for professional services firms — without the solicitor.law branding. Email Steven for a quote tailored to your firm.
